Since day one, our mission at South Sound Dance has always been to be an arts hub for our community, not just through dance, but through all forms of creative expression.
Over 12 seasons we’ve grown a thriving dance community for kids and adults, launched our Fine Arts Preschool in 2020, and offered music, vocal, and pop-up theater opportunities all throughout.
Now, we’re proud to introduce ENCORE Music + Theater, a full-fledged, year-round performing arts program that gives young artists a place to train, grow, and belong all year long.

Why are the performing arts important for kids?
Lifelong Confidence
Learning to perform on stage builds self-esteem, presence, and poise. When kids practice speaking, singing, and moving in front of others, they train their brain to stay calm under pressure — a superpower they’ll use in school, jobs, interviews, and everyday life.
The Power of Music
Music strengthens memory, boosts focus, and lights up parts of the brain tied to language, math, and emotional intelligence. Kids who engage with music learn rhythm, timing, listening skills, and creative problem-solving...all while having fun. It’s not just art… it’s brain fuel!
Singing teaches breath control, vocal projection, clarity, and emotional expression. Kids learn how to use their voices confidently — not just to hit notes, but to speak up, ask questions, advocate for themselves, and be heard. A strong voice on stage often leads to a strong voice in life.
Acting invites students to step into different characters and perspectives, teaching empathy and emotional awareness. Through scripts, storytelling, and scene work, kids learn public speaking, body language, improvisation, quick thinking, and how to communicate clearly, skills that follow them far beyond the stage.
Theater fosters teamwork, empathy, communication, and collaboration. When kids rehearse together, problem-solve together, and perform together, they develop bonds that are stronger than a typical classroom friendship. Shared creativity creates real connection.
Great performers aren’t born, they’re trained. Our year-round schedule mirrors how professional performers grow: through repetition, technique, practice, and stage time. Consistency creates confidence, and confidence creates performers who shine!
